A recent article relating to last week's discussion of bookstores' dual role as community centres and business enterprises – the Strand is a world-famous bookstore, not only huge within but with an outdoor section of cheap used books stretching along the sidewalk for an entire block, where you could find all kinds of rare treasures; "Book Row" was a whole section of New York once devoted to hundreds of bookshops.
